The invention relates to an autonomous underwater vehicle which can transport at least two divers at ambient pressure. The inventive vehicle comprises a support structure (1) which is at least partially submerged and which is topped with a leak-tight cover (3) which is ventilated and designed to house a pocket of breathable gas (4) and of which at least the upper part is transparent (3₁), wherein the at least two divers position their heads. In addition, the vehicle comprises a device which is used to control the level (5) of water that rises up into the leak-tight cover (3) when the vehicle is submerged and which can be used to compensate for the variation in the weight of the divers and the part of the divers' bodies that extends into the pocket (4) of breathable gas.
