A controller controls the driving condition of the cutting wheel according to the characteristics of the substrates (120,130). It recognizes the substrate based on input information against stored characteristics in a database. Driving condition of the cutting wheel is set based on the information. Suction units (152,155) work with and remove the glass-dust generated by the cutting wheel. A steam cutting device applies a high temperature steam to the scribing lines. An independent claim is included for the method of cutting a liquid crystal display panel.
