The arrangement has a cylindrical-shaped gas generator unit that comprises a retaining part and a gas generator fixed to the part and including two fastening bolts. A circular or slot-shaped opening (7) is provided in an adjacent area of two fastening openings (5, 6) of a gas bag (1) to retain an end of the generator. The opening (7) is partially covered by a flexible lug (8) that is firmly connected with the gas bag. The lug (8) is attached on an outer side of the bag (1).
