<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of estimating the characteristic values that vary with time, to provide a light-emitting device that infers attenuation of luminance, based on the impression time of driving current and can correct the luminance based on the estimation, and to provide a driving method of the light-emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: Components, included in a luminance attenuation correcting mechanism 5 of the light-emitting device have the following functions: an integration section 30 integrates ON current impression time t<SB>ap</SB>of a driving circuit 60; a calculation section 40 calculates an estimated luminance L, based on the current impression time t<SB>ap</SB>and expression of L=L<SB>0</SB>×(D/100)^((t<SB>ap</SB>/T<SB>D</SB>)^α); a drive current control circuit 50 corrects the drive current, to L<SB>0</SB>/L times, based on the luminance L, and the drive circuit 60 impresses the corrected drive current, to an organic EL element 70.
