PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of securing quietness at the time of adjusting a forward and backward position of a steering wheel, and satisfactorily protecting a driver at the time of secondary collision. SOLUTION: When a collision load forward of a vehicle body is applied to an inner column 3a by secondary collision together with collision accidents, a screw thread lever 18 coupled with the inner column 3a is displaced to the front side of the vehicle body. A housing part 30 is detached from an outer column 2a by displacement forward of the vehicle body of the screw thread lever 18. The housing part 30 is smoothly displaced to the front side of the vehicle body by guiding a guide projection 22 formed on the top face of the housing part 30 in a guide groove 21 formed on a bottom face 20 of the outer periphery of the outer column 2a. Accordingly, a moving path of the housing part 30 after the housing part 30 is detached from the outer column 2a is surely fixed, so that the inner column 3a is smoothly displaced to the outer column 2a across the entire stroke of a collapse movement.
