PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for realizing high-speed continuous imaging over a long period of time, and an imaging apparatus provided with the driving device. SOLUTION: The driving device for controlling the drive of an imaging element is composed of a light receiving element, a storage memory for tentatively storing signal charges from the light receiving element generated by imaging, a storage/read memory for storing and reading the signal charges transferred from the storage memory, and a horizontal transfer memory for horizontally transferring the signal charges obtained from the storage/read memory. The problem is solved by providing a driving clock generator for generating a driving clock for transferring the signal charges to the storage memory and the storage/read memory for every preset number of frames, transferring the signal charges stored in the storage/read memory to the horizontal transfer memory on the basis of the fixed cycle, and outputting the signal charges from the horizontal transfer memory further.
