PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that has the function of correcting and converting an image including distortion resulting from compression of the peripheral area of an input image, and can obtain an image of high quality. SOLUTION: The light emitting device which imparts such a characteristic that a quantity of light in the central area of a subject is made larger than a quantity of light in the peripheral area of the subject, is constituted of a light emitting element 601 and lenses 602 and 603. By using such a light emitting device to impart such a light quantity characteristic that a quantity of light in the central area of a subject is large makes it possible to correct shading when a distortion aberration of an image formed on the light receiving face of an image sensor is corrected.
