PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint structure of a seal member which improves the assembly workability and surely prevents a leakage of high pressure refrigerant. SOLUTION: A stepped small-diameter part 53 is formed in a fitting projecting portion 51 of a male joint 5, and the stepped small-diameter part 53 is formed with two steps comprised of a first tapered surface 531 and a second tapered surface 532 on the base side (on the atmosphere side) of the stepped small-diameter part 53. A backup ring 9 and an O-ring 7 are fitted on and secured to the stepped small-diameter part 53 on the atmosphere side and on the refrigerant side, respectively. As viewed in cross-section, the backup ring 9 comprises an atmosphere-side end face formed as a circular face 91, an outer peripheral face formed as a horizontal plane 92, an inner peripheral face formed as an inclined plane 93 and a refrigerant-side end face formed as a press-contacted surface 94. When pressure is applied to the O-ring 7, the backup ring 9 is pressed by the O-ring 7 so as to move on the first tapered surface 531 and come in contact with the first tapered surface 531 and an inner periphery of a female joint 3 at two points the upper and lower of the circular face 91.
