PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder in which different operations of image recording and application operation can be realized by the same driving source without requiring switching of conveyance routes independent although capable of selecting the presence or absence of application of a processing liquid, a plurality of the conveyance routes can be provided without enlarging an apparatus body, and application recording of both faces of a recording medium can be realized without increasing the conveyance routes. SOLUTION: In the recorder comprising application means which apply the processing liquid for image quality improvement prior to recording on the recording medium, reverse conveyance routes 28 and 24 are provided for conveying the recording medium 13 conveyed in reverse from a recording part to the recording part again. The application means 52 and 53 are arranged at a position where the processing liquid can be applied on the recording medium in the reverse conveyance route, enabling recording with application to both faces of the recording medium.
