<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microprocessor which enables reduction in power consumption and an increase in speed. <P>SOLUTION: This microprocessor incorporates a detecting means for previously sensing instructions to operate each arithmetic circuit and a means for activating one or more arithmetic circuit responding to those instructions detected by this detecting means prior to execution of arithmetic operation, while deactivating the activated arithmetic circuit after completion of arithmetic operation.
