PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing device having a function of displaying a reason why it is not reproduced when a file which cannot be reproduced on an optical disk is reproduced. SOLUTION: When errors occur during the file reproduction of an optical disk, the errors are detected by an error detection means, and sorted by an error sorting means depending on error reasons. When the errors sorted by an error sorting means are, for example, those under decoding, there are a read error, an input stream error, a designated data type error, a chroma format error, a monochrome image error, a stream error, and a time-out error, and one among these errors closest to the error reason is displayed on a display device by an error display processing means. Thus, when an optical disk having a file recorded therein is created at a next time, the possibility of recording the file which cannot be reproduced is lowered. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
