PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-speed recording processing by eliminating or shortening the recording time of tail end information by targeting the format of a CD or a DVD. SOLUTION: Read-out data is recorded before read-in and user data are recorded. This position is a predicted read-in end position, and also a recording start position of the user data. As the information amount of the read-in data is fixed, the predicted end position is obtained. As contents of the read-in data has nothing to do with those of the user data, it is not necessary to wait for the completion of preparation of this recording, and recording is carried out by a different timing before the recording of the read-in and user data. After the recording end of the read-in data, the recording of the user data is subsequently started. For recording of read-out information, when the user data is smaller than the read-out data, the minimum necessary amount of information is recorded from the end position of the read-out data previously recorded, and when it is smaller, the read-out data is recorded subsequently after the tail end of the user data.
