PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for communications, which can further immediately send reply mail for image information received through electronic mail. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus, which can transmit and receive image information through electronic mail, has an address information storage means for storing information that indicates whether or not the electronic mail can be directly transmitted and address information on communication partners, and a determination means for retrieving address information for reply for the received electronic mail from the address information stored in the address information storage means to determine whether or not electronic mail can be directly transmitted to the address for reply.
