PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two cycle internal combustion engine capable of making blow by quantity of unburned air fuel mixture as small as possible and reducing combustion fluctuation of each cycle, at low cost without big modification of a conventional engine structure. SOLUTION: This two cycle internal combustion engine has scavenging outlets 31b, 31b, 32b', 3b opened in the cylinder bore 10a and is provided with a left and right pair, or a plurality of pairs of scavenging passages 31, 31, 32', 32 which are basically reverse scavenging system. The engine is constructed for air fuel mixture M introduced to a combustion working chamber 15 formed above a piston 20 from the scavenging outlets 31b, 31b, 32b', 32b in a lowering stroke of the piston 20 to form tumble flow in a surface roughly parallel to an opening surface of an exhaust opening 34.
