PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly separate from a carrying belt a paper P electrostatically attracted and carried on the carrying belt by providing a device for separating the paper from the carrying belt without enlarging an image recording device. SOLUTION: A processing liquid is applied to the tip end of the paper P from a recording head 20H to generate cocklings at the tip end of the paper P. The cocklings cause the tip end of the paper P to be waved, enabling the paper P self-separation from the carrying belt 30. This dispenses with a separation means such as a separation claw or an anti-static mechanism for separating the paper P from the carrying belt 30, reducing the occurrence of damage to the paper as compared with a case where a separation means like a separation claw is provided. Furthermore, the inkjet recording device 10 as a whole can be manufactured at low cost as compared with a case where a separation means such as the anti-static mechanism or the like is provided and can be reduced in size.
