PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission device which is capable of attaining general versatility compatible with various types of systems and has a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This transmission device 10 for a motorcycle includes a gear shift pedal 70 operated by a driver and elastically tilting vertically from its reference position and a potentiosensor 120 detecting tilting of the gear shift pedal. A control unit 22 determines a shift position value Po obtained from the potentiosensor 120 and outputs the shift position value Po to a prescribed transmission section. A comparison determination section 170 of the control unit 22 determines tilting of the gear shift pedal 70 by making comparative determination among a range B showing the reference position, a range N1 downward defined by a range of a determined angle, a range C1 having a larger tilting angle than the range N1, a range N2 having a predetermined angle upward from the range B and a range C2 having a tilting angle from the range N2.
