A method and a system for linking with a web-based information search unit are provided to offer convenience for information search by linking with a portal site set from a user to a separate small display window with simple mouse manipulation. A mouse manipulation monitoring part(12) recognizes double-click of space or a keyword in a browser(10), and mouse drag area fixing as a linking condition by being installed as a client program. If the mouse manipulation is detected by the mouse manipulation monitoring part, a search window(14) having a separated area is formed in the browser. The search window includes a search engine selection window(16) for selecting a portal site including a search engine, a search input window(18) for receiving the keyword, and a search manipulation button(20) for ordering the search to the search engine after the search engine is selected and the keyword is inputted.
