摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency for taking out light from a device by reducing optical loss in prior art of a semiconductor light emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: In order to take out light efficiently from a light emitting region into a phosphor, such a material as phosphor is coupled optically with a semiconductor structure including a light emitting region arranged between an n-type region and a p-type region. The phosphor may be phosphor particles touching the surface of the semiconductor structure directly, the semiconductor structure, or a ceramic phosphor bonded to a thin nucleation structure onto which the semiconductor structure is grown. Preferably, the phosphor exhibits high absorptivity and high efficiency. When the semiconductor structure radiates light into such a high efficiency and high absorptivity phosphor, the phosphor takes out light efficiently from the structure and reduces optical loss exising in prior art. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
