<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst composition containing a new perovskite type compound oxide which a noble metal can be made to enter and leave reversibly. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst composition is prepared to contain the perovskite type compound oxide shown by general formula (1): A<SB>x</SB>A'<SB>w</SB>B<SB>y</SB>B'<SB>(1-y-z)</SB>N<SB>z</SB>O<SB>3</SB>±σ (wherein A is at least one element selected from alkaline-earth metals; A' is at least one element selected from rare earth metals; B is Mn; B' is at least one element selected from transition metals (excluding Mn, Rh, Pd and Pt); N is at least one element selected from Rh, Pd and Pt; x and w are atomic proportions satisfying 0.8≤(x+w)≤1.3 (0.8≤x≤1.3, 0≤w≤0.4); y is the atomic proportion satisfying 0<y<1.0; z is the atomic proportion satisfying 0<z≤0.5; σ is an oxygen-excessive portion or an oxygen-deficient portion). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
