PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply having a transformer which can be secured upon the occurrence of a fault. SOLUTION: A plurality of windings are wound around a bobbin 7 sequentially in layers in the order of a primary winding P1 in a layer closest to a core 8, a primary winding P2 in the upper layer thereof, a secondary winding S1 in the upper layer thereof, and a secondary winding S2 in the uppermost layer. Between respective layers and on the outer circumference of the winding S2 in the uppermost layer, an insulating paper (insulating tape) 6 is wound and insulating spacers 5 are provided between each winding and the frames formed at the opposite longitudinal ends of the core 8 of the bobbin 7. As shown on Fig. 1, the windings P1, P2 and S1 are formed of a thick conductive wire (e.g. a copper wire) and the winding S2 on the outer circumference is formed of a thin conductive wire having a diameter of≤0.1 mm.
