PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device for achieving serial communication with an always high rate by dynamically selecting serial communication through a device dedicated to serial communication or serial communication through a CPU. SOLUTION: A communication device 10, including a means for performing serial communication via a device 4 dedicated to serial communication and a means for performing serial communication according to data transfer control from a CPU 2 with a connected object device 20, has a data transfer selection means 1 having a criterion 1a to determine a CPU load, performing data transfer by means of the device 4 on determining that the CPU load is heavy, and on the contrary, performing data transfer on the basis of the reference 1a by means of the transfer control from the CPU 2 on determining that the CPU load is light when serial data transfer is required.
