PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilization efficiency of liquid crystal materials, by shortening filling time for liquid crystals. SOLUTION: This manufacturing apparatus has an upper and lower stages to hold upper and lower substrates; substrate heaters provided on each stage for heating the substrates up to the temperature higher than the SmC<SP>*</SP>-X (X is SmC, SmA, N<SP>*</SP>, or N) phase transition temperature of the ferroelectric liquid crystal, and vacuum suction cups provided on each stage for attracting the substrates; a liquid crystal dripping section to drip ferroelectric liquid crystals on the lower substrate attracted to the lower stage and a liquid crystal dripping sealant applicator, having a sealant applicator to apply sealant to the lower substrate; a liquid crystal heater, provided at the lower liquid crystal dripping section to heat the ferroelectric liquid crystals in the liquid crystal dripping section, up to a temperature higher than the phase transition temperature; and a sticking mechanism for aligning and sticking the lower substrate, dripped and coated with a liquid crystal sealant by the dripper sealant applicator and the upper substrate inside a reduced pressure space.
