PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new optically active alkylphenylphosphinic acid L-menthyl derivative, and a simple method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This alkylphenylphosphinic acid L-menthyl ester derivative having an absolute steric configuration of R on phosphorus atom and expressed by general formula (I) [wherein, L-Men is L-menthyl; R1, R2are each H or a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, and also the R1, R2may form a ring by bonding each other; and R3is H or a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted] is provided.
