PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of shorten imaging time by performing automatic remeasurement at the time a test subject moves. SOLUTION: The position of a test subject 1 is adjusted and recording with a camcoder 23 is started. A still image of an imaging region at this time point t<SB>0</SB>and a still image of the imaging region at a halfway imaging time point t<SB>1</SB>where scanning starts to acquire a tomographic image of the test subject 1 are obtained to calculate a correlation coefficient r<SB>xy</SB>with the still image after the position adjustment (time point t<SB>0</SB>) and to determine whether or not the correlation coefficient r<SB>xy</SB>exceeds a threshold level. If the correlation coefficient r<SB>xy</SB>exceeds the threshold, scanning is kept going; if not, scanning is automatically stopped at that time point and resumed from the beginning.
