The present invention relates to a method for a subject to substantially unassisted by other persons obtain an assessment of own hearing ability, comprising the steps of providing sound stimuli with controlled level and frequency content to each ear of said subject according to an algorithm, providing for said subject to respond to said stimuli, guiding said subject through said algorithm at least partly on the basis of said responses, establishing a hearing ability assessment result, and displaying said hearing ability assessment result to said subject, characterised in that said method further comprises the step of providing a recommendation for suitable hearing help devices and/or further examination of hearing ability to said subject. Moreover the present invention relates to hearing ability assessment systems and a method of facilitating a sale of an intelligent earphone, e.g. a hearing aid, both incorporating the above-mentioned method. |
