The device has stretching unit lower and upper parts in which lower and upper cylinders are supported, respectively. A forced guide unit (20) is provided for the upper part on a way from the unloading position into the loading position and from the loading position into the unloading position. The unit raises the upper part in the unloading position such that the upper cylinders are completely lifted from the lower cylinders. An independent claim is also included for a spinning preparing machine comprising a device for guidance of an upper part of a stretching unit.
