A preparation method of cerium carbonate nano-powder is provided to be carried out under better mitigated conditions than conventional hydrothermal reaction conditions and enables to easily control shape and size of particles produced. The cerium carbonate nano-powder is prepared by: precipitating a cerium salt and a carbonate reactant in a water-soluble solvent at a temperature of 20 to 100deg.C; and firing the resultant cerium carbonate. Examples of the cerium salt include cerium nitrate, cerium chloride, cerium acerate, cerium sulfonate, etc. Examples of the carbonate reactant include urine, ammonium bicarbonate, etc. The mole ratio of the cerium salt and the carbonate reactant ranges from 1:1 to 20:1. Preferably, the mean particle diameter of cerium carbonate powder ranges from 10nm to 20micrometers. |
