摘要 668,430. Automatic telephone exchange equipment. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Sept. 19, 1950 [Oct. 11, 1949], No. 26070/49. Class 40 (iv). [Also in Group XL (c)] An impulse pattern is generated at a given recurrence frequency by means of a first multivibrator operating at the given frequency which controls a second multivibrator, operating at a higher frequency, by means of a D.C. circuit; synchronization between the two multivibrators being effected by an A.C. circuit. The Figure shows an impulse generator suitable for use as a ringing current generator in a telephone exchange in which multivibrator MVC operates symmetrically with a frequency of 16<SP>2</SP>/ 3 c/s.; multivibrator MVB asymmetrically with valves VC and VD being conducting for periods of 0.4 and 0.2 seconds respectively and multivibrator MVA asymmetrically with valves VA and VB conductive for periods of 1 and 2 seconds respectively. When valve VB is conducting current flow through resistor R5 renders valve VC non-conducting and when valve VD is conducting, valve VE is similarly cut-off. Thus the output across resistor R12 consists of a 16<SP>2</SP>/ 3 c/s. signal following the cycle 0.4 seconds on; 0.2 seconds off; 0.4 seconds on; 2 seconds off &c. This periodicity is maintained by coupling the anode of valve VC to the grid circuit of valve VB via capacitor C3 so that the multivibrators MVA and MVB are interlocked. Each time that valve VC is cutoff its rising anode potential is applied to the grid of valve VB and at the same time its cathode potential is reduced since no current flows in resistor R5; the first positive pulse is applied to the grid of valve VB 0.4 seconds after it has received a much longer negative pulse from the anode of valve VA so that the valve is not rendered conducting. The negative pulse received from the anode of valve VC 0.2 seconds later when valve VC starts to conduct, neutralizes the effect of the first positive pulse. The second positive pulse received from valve VD together with the fall in the cathode potential of valve VB due to the cessation of current flow in resistor R5 renders valve VB conductive. In order to eliminate the possibility of valve VB being triggered through its common cathode circuit with valve VC, valve VB is arranged to pass a considerably larger current than valve VC when both are in their conductive condition. The output from resistor R12 is applied directly to a buffer amplifier VH and through phase changing networks PCA, PCB to amplifier VK and VM respectvely so that the outputs 13, 14, 15 from the class C power amplifier stages VG, VJ and VL have 120 degrees phase shift between them. The multivibrator MVC may be replaced for example by an RC oscillator which operates continuously but the output from which passes through an amplifier which is keyed on and off by the voltage developed across resistor R12.
