<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup for an optical recording medium (1), an electronically controlled diffraction grating (11) suitable for use in the pickup, and an apparatus for reading from and/or writing to the optical recording medium (1) using the optical pickup or the diffraction grating (11). <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup for optical recording media which has two or more data tracks (4) has a light source (10) for emitting a light beam for use in reading from and/or writing to the optical recording medium (1) and includes the electronically controlled diffraction grating (11), which is switchable between at least two states for generating one or more light beams from the light beam emitted by the light source (10) for use in reading from and/or writing to one or more of the data tracks (4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
