摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining an improved state of alignment for coupling an optical beam at a high power level to an optical waveguide. SOLUTION: The power of the beam is reduced to a minimum test power level. The reduced power beam is brought into the state of test alignment so as to form a beam spot on the coupling face of the optical waveguide. A coupling power level at the beam coupling part is measured. The power level of the reduced power beam is increased up to a maximum test power level in step units. At each power level, the corresponding coupling power level is measured. If the coupling power level is not saturated and the corresponding coupling efficiency is as desired or higher, the state of the present test alignment is determined as the improved state of alignment. Otherwise, the state of the test alignment is changed and a new state of test alignment is tested to examine whether the desired reference is satisfied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
