PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confocal microscope system that can display a slice image at a designated Z position as a live image after completing fetching one three-dimensional image when a sample is repeatedly three-dimensionally measured. SOLUTION: The confocal microscope system includes steps of: irradiating a sample with a laser beam which is input to a confocal scanner via an objective lens of a microscope; and fetching a confocal image of the returned fluorescent light from the sample as a three-dimensional slice image while the focus position of the objective lens is shifted toward the focus. The system is equipped with a Z-position image processing means which makes the focus position of the objective lens shift to a specified Z position toward the focus during a halt period in the cycle time of three-dimensional measurement, and which displays a slice image of the sample at the current Z position.
