PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve waterproofness of a cut butt end surface and adhesion of a caulking agent, when used by cutting a backing material for construction in a construction place. SOLUTION: This construction method of the backing material for construction fixes the backing material to a skeleton of a wall after cutting the backing material 1 for construction including an MDF 3 used as a base board, a waterproof layer 5 arranged on a surface of this MDF 3 and a recess-projection layer 7 arranged on this waterproof layer 5. A butt end processing agent 12 is composed of a mixture of respective emulsions such as a urethane resin, an epoxy resin and an ethylene vinyl acetate resin or an acrylic resin emulsion and synthetic rubber latex, and is applied to the butt end surface 9 of cutting the backing material 1 for construction.
