PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker which enables the tasteful cooking of rice and keeps the cooked rice warm by a higher force of a fire according to the quantity of rice to be cooked, degree of water, quality of rice and a menu used by sensing changes in the weight in the processes of cooking rice and keeping the cooked rice warm. SOLUTION: The rice cooker is provided with a body 2 with its top opened, a pot 3, a lid 4, a heating coil 7 for heating the pot, a weight sensing means 8 for sensing the weight of the pot 3, an arithmetic part 10a for calculating changes in the weight of the pot during the operation and a control means 10 having a heating control part 10b which controls the degree of current-carrying capacity of the heat coil 7 based on an output signal of the arithmetic part 10a. In addition to the heating of the pot 3 according to the initial quantity of rice to be cooked and the rice cooking process involved, the pot 3 is heated optimally by a higher force of a fire according to changes in the weight of the pot 3 attributed to difference in the evaporation rate of water depending on the quality of rice or the menu used, thereby achieving the tasteful cooking of rice.
