The invention relates to a method for the very-high-speed cooling of a powder jet of metal, alloy or a composite. The powder and gas jet originates from a supersonic atomisation nozzle and is captured by a device in the form of a flat-sheet hyperboloid. According to the invention, the not-as-yet-solidified powder grains are brought into contact with a very-low-temperature, high-speed gas jet by means of the narrow passage. The bodies obtained can be amorphous or nanocrystallised and are characterised by their high mechanical strength among other novel characteristics. The materials obtained are strengthened under specific temperature and pressure conditions such that the structure thereof remains amorphous or becomes nanocrystalline. |
