A cooking hob comprises a main body (10) that is mounted in an aperture (22) of a work surface (23), the main body (10) having one or more cooking rings (12) on the top surface (11) of the hob, and a control panel (14) on the front surface of the hob. The control panel (14) is slidably mounted to the main body (10) for forward movement away from the body (10) in a plane which extends substantially parallel to the top surface (11) into an aperture (24) formed in a cabinet underneath the work surface (23). The hob comprises a cooling fan (not shown) that draws cool air in through the control panel (14) to cool the internal components of the hob and the control panel (14), and exhausts warmed air externally of the cabinet.
