APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING OF BROADCAST SERVICE IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for receiving broadcast/multicast services in a mobile communication system are provided to increase the transmission efficiency of radio channels by transmitting BCMCS signals according to wireless environments. A mobile terminal receives a plurality of OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols containing BCMCS information(605). The mobile terminal executes channel estimation and channel decompression for the BCMCS information contained in the received OFDM symbols(605). Then the mobile terminal demodulates the channel-estimated/decompressed signals(615). The mobile terminal checks whether the presently received BCMCS signal is the first transmission(620). If it is confirmed that the first BCMCS signal has been received, the mobile terminal checks whether the presently received slot is the last sot of the associated BCMCS information(650). In case that the presently received slot is the last sot of the associated BCMCS information, the mobile terminal executes decoding using only a demodulated signal stored at the previous slot or a signal received and demodulated at the present slot(S660).
