A system and a method for providing a user state announcement service are provided to enable a callee to easily and rapidly inform a caller of his/her present state through a proper message, without the necessity of speaking over the telephone. A system for providing a user state announcement service comprises communication terminals(10,20), an MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(30), and a state announcement media platform(40). In case a preset specific condition is inputted from the user of a called terminal(10) when a call connection request is received from a calling terminal(20), the called terminal(10) detects the inputted condition, searches for user state information according to the detected condition, and transmits the obtained user state information to the MSC(30). The state announcement media platform(40) stores state announcement messages corresponding to user state information and call types.
