A projector unit and a projection television apparatus are provided to easily exchange a light source unit and secure excellent quality of pictures by automatically forming a locking state that a matching part of a light source unit and a matching part of a main body housing are matched with each other by a locking device. A light source unit(12) includes a light source unit housing(30) formed separately from a main body housing(32) forming a main body(14), and coupled with the main body housing in a state that matching parts(30A) of the light source unit and the main body housing are matched. The main body generates image projection light flux from light flux emitted from the light source unit and emits the generated image projection light flux. A locking device(60) achieves a locking state that the matching parts of the light source unit and the main body housing are matched when the matching part of the light source housing moves toward the matching part of the main body housing, and maintains the locking state. An unlocking operating unit(62) releases the locking state.
