In the recording apparatus for recording data to be continuously inputted in nonvolatile memory recordable discretely in a plurality of blocks under the control of file management data, high speed data recording is achieved by only recording data in a recording medium during data recording and updating file management data at a time after completion of data recording. During recording, a temporary file name is recorded in the directory information of the management data; once the data recording is completed, the management data is updated with the start address and link data of the recorded data and then the temporary file name is erased. <IMAGE>
