The procedure for manufacturing insulating material from new and/or recycled waste fibres, especially glass fibres, consists of carding the fibres to separate and align them, dropping them onto a conveyor belt to form a mat, bonding the fibres mechanically or chemically, by heating or using a polymerising bonding agent, and then corrugating the mat with folds running in at least one direction. The bonded fibre mat can be between 5 and 300 mm thick and have a density of between 10 and 200 g/sq m. One surface of the corrugated mat can be covered with aluminium foil or kraft paper. |
