The procedure for the manufacture of a roll of flat web material involves first manufacturing a flat web by a recognized method and then winding it into a roll. The end section of the flat web is glued onto the roll by splicable adhesive tape without the end section of the flat web being glued on the roll beforehand. The adhesive tape used has a backing which consists of at least two interconnected layers, whereby the connection is broken during a splicing process. An Independent claim is included for a roll of a flat web material.
