A liquid crystal display(LCD) and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the delay of a gate pulse by reducing the line resistance of a gate line by separately arranging gate driving circuits at both sides of a panel. A liquid crystal display includes an LCD panel(80), a first gate driving circuit(81l), a second gate driving circuit(81r), and a data driving circuit(86). The LCD panel includes an array region, where plural gate lines cross plural data lines and plural LCD cells are arranged. The gate lines are separated in the array region. The first gate driving circuit is formed at one edge of the LCD panel and supplies a gate pulse to a first gate line group of the gate lines in sequence. The second gate driving circuit is formed at the other edge of the LCD panel and supplies the gate pulse to a second gate line group of the gate lines in sequence. The data driving circuit supplies video data to the data lines.
