A polarizer and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve adhesion and water-resistance properties of a polarizer by using an adhesive agent composition containing polyvinyl alcohol-group polymer and aqueous cross-linker, which are mixed at a predetermined proportion. A polarizer includes a polarization film, a protective film, and an adhesive layer. The protective film is laminated at one or both sides of the polarization film. The adhesive layer is formed between the polarization and protective films. The adhesive layer contains an adhesive agent composition having polyvinyl alcohol-group polymer and aqueous cross-linker. The weight ratio of the aqueous cross-linker is greater than 15w% and smaller than 75w% per 100% of the polyvinyl alcohol-group polymer. The pH of the adhesive agent composition is less than 4.
