摘要 An IPS(In-Plane Switching) mode LCD is provided to realize high contrast characteristic and wide viewing angle characteristic, by using two negative biaxial retardation films and a +C-plate as optical compensation films. An LCD cell(3) is disposed between a first polarizing plate(1) and a second polarizing plate(2). A first negative biaxial retardation film(11) is contacted with the LCD cell and has an optical axis perpendicular to an optical axis of the LCD cell. A second negative biaxial retardation film(13) is contacted with the second polarizing plate and has an optical axis perpendicular to an absorption axis of the second polarizing plate. A +C-plate(12) is disposed between the first and second negative biaxial retardation films.
