A method of encoding transmission data of a mobile communication terminal and a mobile communication terminal using the same are provided to replace depleted ESN(Equipment Serial Number) by MEID(Mobile Equipment ID) by generating long code and encoding data. A PLCM(Public Long Code Mask) is generated by using a virtual peculiar number indicative of a kind of a mobile communication terminal. Transmission data is encoded by using the PLCM. The PLCM contains a specific bit which means the kind of the mobile communication terminal. The specific bit is positioned on the most significant bit of the PLCM. The PLCM consists of 42 bits in total. The virtual peculiar number consists of 0 to 36 bits or 0 to 40 bits.
