The invention relates to a method for remodeling a device for the thermal treatment of fine-grained materials, especially a device for drying, burning and/or sintering fine-grained raw materials to be used in the iron industry, by providing said device with a grate for receiving the material to be treated, in order to increase the capacity of the device. The invention also relates to a grate carriage with an increased capacity.
