An LCD panel and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent the movement of a ball spacer within the LCD panel, by forming a dummy pattern having a well region for containing the ball spacer. A lower substrate(101) faces an upper substrate(111). A data line and a gate line(102) cross each other to define a pixel region above the lower substrate. A pixel electrode(122) is formed in the pixel region. A source electrode(134) is connected to the data line. A gate electrode(132) is connected to the gate line. A drain electrode(136) is connected to the pixel electrode. A dummy pattern(135) having a well region(144) is formed above the gate line. A ball spacer(113) is placed in the well region of the dummy pattern to maintain a gap between the upper substrate and the lower substrate.
