An apparatus for detecting a butt joint of pipes using parallel connected elements and a method thereof are provided to perform precise inspection and probe image implement of the butt joint using a phase arrangement. An apparatus for detecting a butt joint of pipes using parallel connected elements includes probes, and ultrasonic oscillators(20). The probes are disposed on the pipes to be measured in a phase arrangement manner having 2m ultrasonic oscillators and a single scan channel. The probe connects the nth ultrasonic oscillator to the (2m-n+1) in parallel to simultaneously activate or non-activate the oscillators. Here, n is a natural number smaller than (m+1).
