A side airbag control device is provided to simplify the wire arrangement by integrating a firing unit with a sensor unit and reducing the number of wires connected between an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) and a squib driver in the firing unit and to reduce software load of the ECU by self-diagnosing at the firing unit. A side airbag control device comprises a side airbag(130); a sensor unit(121) detecting side collision of a vehicle; a firing unit(123) performing ignition of the side airbag according to predetermined regulation and self-diagnosing for ignition of the side airbag; a communication/power-source unit(125) transmitting information about the side collision of the sensed vehicle, transmitting commands about ignition of the side airbag to the firing unit by receiving the commands from an ECU(110) correspondingly to the information about the side collision; and the ECU judging whether the side airbag is ignited correspondingly to the collision information, sending ignition commands out to the communication/power-source unit in a need to ignite the side airbag, and sending self-diagnosing commands out to the communication/power-source unit in a need to self-diagnose.
