A method for manufacturing an LCD is provided to simultaneously form a relief embossing pattern on a passivation layer and a drain contact hole in the passivation layer, by using a mold having an intaglio embossing pattern corresponding to the relief embossing pattern and a protrusion corresponding to the drain contact hole. A gate line and a data line cross each other to define a pixel region above an insulating substrate(110). A thin film transistor(T) is formed at a crossing region of the gate line and the data line, wherein the thin film transistor includes a drain electrode(163). An organic passivation layer(170) is formed on the thin film transistor. A mold, which has an intaglio embossing pattern corresponding to the pixel region and a protrusion corresponding to the drain electrode, is pressurized on the organic passivation layer, thereby forming a relief embossing pattern on the passivation layer and a drain contact hole(171) for exposing the drain electrode in the passivation layer. A pixel electrode(180) is connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole.
